About FP Smith Parts & Equipment

FP Smith Parts & Equipment (also known as Piggy Smith’s or F.P. Smith Equipment Co.) is a family-owned independent distributor of heavy equipment and tractor parts with deep roots in Northern California. Founded in 1947 by Francis Peter “Piggy” Smith, the company has grown into one of the largest stocking distributors of new OEM surplus, rebuilt, used, and hard-to-find vintage parts on the West Coast.

Our Rich History

FP Smith earned the nickname “Piggy Smith’s” from operating one of the largest pig farms in Northern California during the 1920s–1940s on the Cordelia ranch. After World War II, Francis transitioned the business into military surplus and heavy equipment parts.

In the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, FP Smith acquired extensive inventories from International Harvester facility closures, along with surplus from Komatsu, Dresser, Dressta, Payhauler, Hough, Allis-Chalmers, and other major manufacturers. This legacy built millions of parts in physical inventory across our ~20-acre facility at 3190 Ramsey Rd., Fairfield, CA 94534.

Today, under the leadership of Pete Smith, FP Smith continues the family legacy of fairness, deep expertise, and exceptional customer service.
